Glad ya got it fixed and sigh of relief it wasn't a bigger problem requiring a teardown.

Fortunately we were only about a mile from a rest area so we nursed it on the shoulder to there.

Geico gave me 2 options; wait for their designated tow service and they would pay for it or have it towed by the repair shop’s recommendation and get reimbursed.
The Geico designated tow was 2 hours out and the repair shop an hour so I went with the repair shop’s recommendation.

From the time I contacted Geico to the time I was back on my way was about 3.5 hours which 45 minutes was with Geico (they found the repair shop), 15 minutes initially with the repair shop (they handled setting up the tow), 2 hours waiting for and getting towed and about 30 minutes getting a new tube put in.

Got my ~$450 reimbursement check for the tow about 4 weeks later.
Needless to say I’m a big fan of Geico’s Roadside Assistance program.

Also if you’re ever in central South Dakota and need work I recommend Petersen’s Motors in Pierre SD.
They used to be a Harley Dealer until Harley pulled their Dealership.

I was also a big fan of geico. They saved me many dollars over my previous insurance company. Then I checked Progressive they saved me $130 a year over Geico. Needless to say I'm not with Geico

After using one of my free AAA tows, I discovered how the TIP sensor is mounted. The TIP triggered on its own and I couldn’t get the bike started. Once back in my garage, after some head scratching, and a thought provoking beer…I discovered that the sensor is attached to the bracket, that the back rest bracket bolts into. I had removed the back rest & its bracket…but didn’t screw the bolts back into the bracket. Duh…

I haven't removed it since last September when I changed the handlebars. Just had a 50,000 miles service done about 1000 miles ago don't know if they had it off.

There you go. You probably didn’t lock it in properly. But, hey, you got a new trailer, so something good came from it.

I've unhooked many a quick disconnect and removed tanks on Harley's, and it doesn't just fall off. I've never heard of one just coming loose.
Had my tank off to change plugs a couple weeks back, went for a test ride and was lucky it died right in my driveway. The fuel line came disconnected, check those good when reconnecting to be sure they are locked in correct.
