Default HOG Membership
I signed up for HOG Life Membership almost 20 years ago mainly for the towing. I had a bike towed just after signing up. Flat bed truck was there within an hour after calling. This past weekend I needed a tow. I called the HOG number and was told that they would text me when they had a truck "secured" for the tow. About a half hour later I receive a text that they are still working on it. Fifteen minutes later same text. Ten minutes later (almost an hour now since my call) I get a text that they "secured" a tow and it should be there in 180 - 210 minutes (3-3 1/2 hours). I received the text while on the phone scheduling a tow on my own. I cancelled the HOG tow. The company I contacted was there with a flat bed in 35 minutes. I would never recommend joining HOG.

HOG towing is awful, common knowledge.

I didn’t renew this year because I didn’t feel like I got anything out of it anymore, not even a coffee table magazine.

Yep, that's what I found out. Years ago it was good. Hog membership included auto towing for members. Sucks now.

HOG towing is a lose lose situation. As you found, much better results on your own. Been there done that.

Seems impossible that H-D is unaware of how bad the HOG tow service is. I guess the business model depends on people that pay for but never use the service.

I didn't renew this year either. Left the piece of paper on the counter thinking I would change my mind. I didn't.

From what I've heard, it is now run by a second party. They probably give long wait times so they don"t have to pay for the towing.

I still have HOG just because I bought a new bike last year. I joined AAA a few years ago, hope don't need use it. I think AMA is good too.

I dropped my HOG membership last year. I have towing from AMA and my regular insurance company. I don't participate in my local HOG chapter, either.
