So, yes.

When someone F's up, I do not get nearly as upset as in the past. I 'juss figure they F'd up. Like we ALL have if u wanna be honest abt it.
EXACTLY as I would have responded. Here in Western SD - We all give everyone the "hey wave" when they act like decent human beings = which is a LOT. I throw a good morning wave to people driving by when I am walking on the side of the road coming back from the forest loop I hike. Guess what - they all wave back!

I will wave if a have is free or a head bob.

As far as a peace sign, when passing other bikes it is pointed down. I always thought it was good ridding and keep the rubber on the road.

I wave or give a head bob also. Many times I have been riding with the chapter and cagers will give way to us. It’s the least I can do to acknowledge it.

I always wave at cagers that stop and don't pull out in front of me.
A wave of thanks for not killing me..

Head nod and/or wave if I have a free hand. (even to airplanes, like a previous poster said lol)

The ones that make me wonder are the normal bike riders who I wave to just in the normal course of events and then they stare me down, head turning towards me over a 2-4 second span as they pass by with some kind of quizzical look on their faces.

What? I am being social and waving to you--first day on your bike there or what?

I get annoyed by people at Stop signs who try to let others go out of courtesy. If I am on the right I will go. If I get there first, I will go. If I have the right of way, I will go. If you are in the right of way, you should go. People who try to wave on someone who does not have the right of way may cause issues elsewhere and might cause an accident by others not knowing what is going on. If everyone just followed the simple rules of the road we would all get there about the same damned time.

I feel like I am in the minority on this one. Am I just a jack ***?

I’ll give them a wave if I have a free hand. If not I nod.
I guess it’s just to acknowledge them for their courtesy.

I had to smile when I read the above.

At one time if I gave the wave and did not receive one back, I actually felt my feelings being hurt. Honestly.

Then over time I realized.:

1. They may have just seen me too late.

2. They may be just the kind of person who does not waive. And that is 100% fine.

3. Maybe they are new and have no idea what is going on with that wave.

Bottom line, I do what I feel is right and I have no idea with the other person is coming from. And if (if) if they are just being a dick, that is 100% fine. That is on them. They could also be one of the nicest people in the world but just do not believe in weaving. So I do not allow what another person does or does not do affect me anymore.

As long as I know, I did what I believe is correct.

I think it really depends upon the situation. I can certainly understand where you are coming from.

There is one intersection in the city of Deerfield Beach over by the beach, right by the major road over the intracoastal. It happens to be that if you are not extra courteous and allow some people to go at one of those intersections, they could literally be waiting there an insane amount of time.

So in the case as I mentioned above, even if I have the right away I may be it across the intersection and just sit there in traffic literally on the other side of the intersection and someone coming up behind me would just block the intersection as they typically do. But if I stop (although I could keep on going) I can allow the cross traffic to finally cross over and get off the island.

If that makes any sense… But I really think it depends upon the situation.

One time on Route A1A, there was a person in the crosswalk where according to the state law you have to stop.

Well I was stopping but the guy behind me was not. When I was watching the guy behind me it looked to me like his girlfriend or wife screamed really loud and the guy slammed his brakes on and skidded up almost right beside me.

So when you are on a bike, I think we all have to be extra careful with these state crosswalks and how courteous we are. If you know what I mean.

Yep, down in this neck of the woods everybody waves at everybody for the most part.
