Default Random thought on "Waving"...

So on my ride into work today, I began to wonder if anyone else actively "waves, give a peaces sign or a thumbs up" to cagers who obviously take the time to let you go by them or go before them at a stop sign. I know we have all had our share of being cut off, nearly swerved into by lane changers or just straight up D-Bags doing other dumb sh*t while driving, to which, is followed by waving arms, rev bombs, multiple cus words and of course the multi-lingual middle finger. But I'm actully wondering if the reverse is true and if we as riders should thank those who actually "see and recognize" us and the risks we willingly take. I find myself giving a thankful gesture to drivers who see me coming down the road and actually wait for me to pass by. 8/10 times I get a wave or the gentlemanly, nod of the head...which honestly makes me feel pretty good.

Only to be pissed off half a mile later at the next moron doing some dumb sh*t while driving......

Ok, interesting post. I like it.........for me the answer is YES.

I try not to group people. I respond to each separately.

If the chap is in a cage, truck, bike, frigg'n airplane for all I care, whatever, if the chap shows courtesy, I am courteous right back. A head nod, thumbs up, whatever as I feel/deem appropriate at the time.

So, yes.

When someone F's up, I do not get nearly as upset as in the past. I 'juss figure they F'd up. Like we ALL have if u wanna be honest abt it.

I am not sure I ever gave anyone in my life a peace sign.

Not surprised by the previous comment from the gentleman from the UP......

But for the rest of us...I'd say a head nod would suffice.

Yes, I often wave a "thank you" at courteous drivers. I do when I'm in my work unit, my truck, or the bike. Being friendly isn't hard and may make someone's day better. I don't want that person to take out their aggression on the next person they see because I was an *** to them. You get what you put out in the world.

Also, because my bars are so high, I can wave Peace Signs to people without leaving the grip.

There might be an exception for someone who lets you pull out of a driveway, side road, or something. But that's an act of kindness and personal consideration. Driving sensibly is a mandatory practice. A cager pulling out of a side street in front of you safely is fully expected

I do wave or nod when someone sees me. Mostly out of being relieved that they didn't pull out or some other form of driving that requires me to swerve/brake hard/jump a curb. Also, I remember a time when "biker" had a bad connotation to it and a little wave may change someones mind, though it's not like it used to be. A courtesy nod costs me nothing, but acknowledges "hey buddy, thanks for watching out".
