Default How sturdy are those passenger footpegs?

Okay, maybe this one goes into the "clearly overthinking things" file, but does anyone's significant other stand on the footpegs to get on their bike?

I had a RKC with footboards, and my wife would routinely stand on one of them to swing her leg up around the backrest. I now have a Softail with the foot pegs which has one long bolt that goes through the center of the mount and the actual footpeg is out further beyond the head of the bolt. That's a LOT of leverage and instead of simply pulling on the threads of the bolt, standing on it will try to shear it as well.

We're thinking about going on our first two-up ride tonight and the absolute last thing I need is for wifee-poo to stand on that sucker and have it collapse. Now, wifee-poo isn't the kind who is five pounds shy of being omnipresent, but she's not twiggy either.

So, do I have a valid concern about how she has gotten used to getting on and off of my other bike? Thoughts?

No issues at all..... assuming the correct hardware was used and they are factory pegs.

I'll stand on them myself, and I outweigh my wife a fair bit.
These are HARLEYS...not the plastic metric crap.

Factory pegs on my '12 Ultra. Stand on the driver's side peg [correction: it is actually a floorboard - perhaps this does not answer your question] pass a foot between me and the topcase and plop on the passenger seat is the only way my wife has been getting on since '12.

They are designed to hole a LOT of weight. Nothing to worry about.

Well, I'm late to this party... Your passenger pegs are rated for more than the bike could safely handle, so you'll never have to worry about this again. But, I'd strongly suggest you delete your Internet history and lie to your wife about what you did on the computer today.
