Default Harley Audacity

I have to laugh at the audacity and arrogance that HD shows to those who ride a Harley older than 10 years. While they refuse to work on them, because they can't plug something into them to tell their parts replacers what to do, they are more than happy to take your money for parts and so forth.

Is it any wonder that their sales are gradually dropping compared to Indians.

Truth be told, I wouldn't expect a Harley dealership to work on or stock parts for my '77 Shovelhead anymore than I'd expect a Chevy dealership to work on or stock parts for my '76 Chevy Stepside.

As much as I would like to be able to continue purchasing parts and accessories for my '07 at my local dealer, I understand why they may not carry items that are no longer current.
Not many folks order car parts direct from the dealer these days, but that being said, how old of a Ford or Chevy are dealerships willing or able to work on?

What chaps my *** about the way the MoCo has 'evolved' is that it is now far more difficult to get a particular part after they changed the ability of dealerships to serve customers out of their territory.
I used to be able to order from Utah Harley for instance, but I cannot order from them any longer because they are not my local dealer.
I see both sides of this issue though, as the large dealerships with heavy website traffic were undercutting smaller dealerships (with limited web traffic) on part sales.
Those with high volume often provided lower prices or better discounts, which increased their sales.

Parts should be made available through a dealer network where they can be ordered through a local dealer and shipped from whoever has them to whoever buys them, regardless of location.
Not sure how that would get all involved paid, but that's for the MoCo to figure out; I just want my parts.

You're missing the whole point. Most of us ride an Evo because they are simple machines to work on and we don't have to rely on the dealership to keep them on the road.

Your missing my point - I am not complaining about stealerships NOT selling parts for older bikes, in fact I am complaining about the exact opposite - stealerships selling the parts and taking your money BUT refusing to install them because your bike is older than 10 years old and bbecause their over paid parts replacers don't know how to - and they call themselves mechanics - oh sorry "technicians" ????

And yeah, that probably applies to a lot of things here.

Evos are older than the dealership mechanics. It is worlds' apart from modern machines.

In today's complex upside down clown world **** show it is a pleasure to ride and work on such a simple thing of the past.

Try finding parts for a 10 year old Indian.

The Harley aftermarket is better that any other aftermarket.
