There is a reason the OP asked this question of "guys who wear half helmets." There are many of us who cannot STAND full face helmets, even modular ones. Like me. They make me feel claustrophobic and obscure my vision. In my opinion, they are unsafe. That is just my opinion, so no need to throw a bunch of stats and numbers at me.

I'm sure he appreciates your help, but I just ask you to bear this in mind. Thanks.

Gnarly thunderstorms in Wyoming and Montana this year, we got pelted with dime size hail at 80 mph, my buddy actually got the bruises to prove it. I had the skull cap on when that **** hit. It sucked.

Been there, done that!

I think there's several different definitions of rain:
Sprinkle, shower, drizzle, downpour and typhoon comes to mind for me.

I don't really care for riding in the rain but I hate leaving when it's raining and I try to draw the line when it get's to the "downpour" stage IF shelter is available but I have, on a few occasions found myself in the middle of nowhere and got caught in some hazardous situations where I had no choice but to keep riding even though I have vowed to never to do that again.
The last time this happened (to me and my cousin) was in 2019 near Halifax, NS when we were attempting to get to our motel before the storm hit us. IF I could have found safe shelter I would have but I was concerned that even if I could have safely gotten to the shoulder of the road that we may get hit by other drivers that could not see us!

I usually wear my half-shell helmet with a drop-down shield and take my FF modular helmet when I'm on a trip.
The half-shell helmet with the drop-down shield does a so-so job in a sprinkle/shower situation but if it looks like it's gonna bet a wet/dark ride I put the half-shell and sunglasses away and put the rain jacket (and hood) on before the FF helmet and that does a great job in preventing or at least reducing "water leaks" around my neck and a wet, cold chest or back can make for a miserable ride.

Agreed about types of rain and I also agree. I wont purposely ride if its gonna rain. But in NC, like I said. It can be sunny and clear with no chance on rain in the weather forecast, and this time of year a huge storm can pop up at anytime. Thats the ones Im talking about. The two I've gotten caught in twice in the last couple of weeks. While I'd love to be able to pull over under a bridge or something until it passes over, thats not always an option. Especially if I have to be back at work or somewhere, which was the case both times.

Anyway, I ordered a helmet with a dropdown visor that I will carry with me. Also ordeded some of that Nikwax for my glasses and visor. We'll see how that goes. Thanks.

A number of goggle manufacturers make otg goggles which have a frame larger enough to fit over the glasses.

but rain gets on goggle lens as well, right? Not sure that would be much different. at least maybe with a visor, im thinking the few inches away from my glasses, and the increased surface area, it might help somewhat.

See lots of different models but nothing will work on the later model street glides if the fairing vent toggle is open.
It has to be closed before the wind can blow the raindrops off your visor or glasses, thats the reason for the toggle.

Im on a RG, but keep my vent open at all times. Never thought about that affecting rain like that. I'll see if closing it helps.

In the meantime, I got the new helmet with visor. Barely fits in my saddlebag, so takes up a lot of space. I wont wear it full time, so not sure its a viable option...full face for me isnt an option either. Not for the very rare times I do get caught in the rain.

I wear a 3/4 helmet. Wife wears a 1/2. Both have the drop down shields and work great in the rain.

Just got back from Milwaukee - we got a little rain, and I changed the shield on my helmet to the full-face shield (just a pop off and pop on). To me, this made a world of difference and kept all of the rain off of my face.
