Well I was going to buy a springer seat but the doc says I need a good backrest that fits into my back better. I considered Mustang and corbin but the Mustang can't take my seat rail and the corbin backrest is ugly [&:]. So I was thinking of havign Danny Gray custom make me something.
I have a DG seat on my Outlaw, but it is a barhopper (read thin) style. It is comfortable for about 200 miles, then the butt hurts. They are well made, so check out their Long Haul ones.
I have the "Buttcrack Solo" that I just put on my 07 Fat Boy yesterday. I can't find the words to describe how pleased I am with this seat. It follows the conours of the bike perferctly, is covered completely in leather and is finshed in felt on the underside. It sits me about 2 inches lower in the saddle. The back rear portion supports my lower back and I feel I am now in the bike instead of perched on it. My first ride around the block found me going 60mph where I normally go 50mph. I was surprised when I looked down and saw how fast I was going. I was going to post all of this but didn't get to it. Your question promted me to write. I love my Danny Grey seat.
From absolutely everything i've read, the Danny Gray is about the best seat on the market, Bev. I've been considering them myself. I have read nothing bad about them. I don't understand how they can really make a comfortable seat and still keep it as small as one like the Buttcrack...but everyone says they're amazing. That's just a big chunk of change to drop without trying one out first. [&:]
I don't know....the price is about the same for thier stock seats as other companies. Heck the Corbin seat is $500 with no mods and personally I'm not into the look....Hubby did the research and bought a Mustang seat for his VTX it was about $600 - 650 for his configuration.
Soif I spend just a bit extra to get something customized to be what I want it and it turns out to be reallllly comfortable I'd be doing well. I might ask if they have a stock seat I can try before I buy a custom. It would look ugly but I'd get the feel for thiser seats.
