Question Half-helmet for naked bike

The last time I had a half-helmet helmet, I owned a crap bike which was for wrenching rather than riding. Nowadays I am irritated by juggling with glasses, balaclava, and helmet each time I ride just 5 km to a nearby store. It would be great to slap on the half helmet and ride.
Up to what speeds can you feel comfortable on a naked bike with the half helmet? Are there any vented models except H-D Trenton B13? Are ear flaps like on Bell Pit Boss a big deal? Did anyone try, are both of them roundish like Bell 500 or more oval?

It's a personal preference. Undoubtedly in this thread you hear from those freedom riders that do not wear a helmet unless the state requires it. No disrespect and while I do not agree with that preference, I respect their decision. Many of my friends are in that category. Personally I wear a simple HH. Some may argue that isn't much better than none at all. Again, not the point of this thread.

I started with a cheap DOT I purchased at a leather store. Mushroom head which looked even worse since I have a very small head. A few years later I tried the Crazy Al's "World's Smallest DOT Helmet" It was much better but still the same thing. My ears stick out but it did not interfere with that. Comfortable but because I wore an XS, it didn't cover my forehead and looked silly, even with a black dew rag. So I recently tried a polo style DOT. I cannot recall the brand but it looks awesome and fits well. Still trouble in that it fits but to look good it comes down over my ears so I have to tuck in my ears. I know, it sounds like I am a hot mess. Oh well, first world problems.

To answer your question, while I cannot control what happens on the road, namely due to other drivers, I do feel safe at 70 or 80 mph. Perhaps that is a false sense of security. However if we thought about what could happen on every ride, NONE of us would leave the house.

I have tried the whole full-strap thing and just can't. I'd sweat in the summer. And certainly not the retractable visor. Too much, but that's just me.

Hope that helps.

i could get to about 50-55mphish before my hamrhead would creep up a bit on me (no problem with my 7eye glasses or head being pushed around), the bottom helmet you show (which i also own) i've only worn tucked behind a windshield.

I have been using a half helmet for years. I will say the helmet in the first picture will cause neck strain at speed. Any helmet that has any kind of lip on the front of it will get caught in the wind and pull your head around

I have buried the speedo with my half helmet with no issues

When you say "Naked Bike" you mean a Harley without a wind protection correct? Not some sort of Ducati?? Because you would look ridiculous riding a Ducati with a half helmet.

I think for the store and back you will be fine with either HH you have shown. Might be a bit to much wind if you are up on the highway at speed, but for back roads sub 50mph you should be fine. Your login says you are now in UAE so maybe the vented one might keep you a bit cooler under the sun!

Have worn half helmet for many years. The only issues I've had with it was buffeting. Once I got that solved (fork fangs) no issues. I now have both hald and 3/4 helmet. Both are set up with Cardo communicators. The half helmet I use ear plugs to listen to radio/music/comm and have installed speakers in the 3/4. Both work fine. No issues. Wear half during warm/hot weather, and 3/4 for cooler spring/fall weather. Half is Daytona DOT approved and 3/4 is Harley DOT approved.

I could tolerate any speed for only 5 clicks, or am I missing something?

I have a Bell Pit Boss and with a windshield on the bike its a great helmet. With no windshield it catches a lot of wind and whips my head around once I get above about 60-65 mph.
