I have transition plastic lenses in my everyday glasses. I only use them onthe bike around town. No tenought wind protection at highway speeds. Mine do not get dark enough for late in the day riding into the sun conditions. I use a set of guard dogg evader II goggles whne i'm looking for real wind andsun protection. Tho I don't think the evaders are dark enough either!!!
I went to walmart and bought some sorts specs that I liked, carried them to my eyeglass place and they put the transitional len in that I wanted in a hours time. Not real high priced.
I wear contacts with Panoptyx day/night lens. I used to wear prescription glasses but they were a pain. Contacts are great. You can get prescriptions for the Panoptyx if you can't wear contacts.
I have tri-focals, so getting extra glasses for riding can get expensive. When I got my last pair of glasses they came with "clip on" sunglasses that actually are magnetic and are made for the glasses. They work really well.

I've got those too but they're flat so useless for riding. Are your's curved/face-fitting and keep the wind out?
I have panoptx with transition lenses. They work great. Clear at night. I normally wear bifocals but decided to make these just for my nearsightedness as it was cheaper and didn't think I needed the bifocals for riding. The only problem is, when I get off the bike I have to change to my regular glasses or I can't see close up. It seems to work ok as the panoptx kind've give me an Elvis look which I don't care for unless I'm riding.
I picked up a wilyx torque ( presript. ) with the regular gray sunglass in polycarb at my eye doctor .
I would have liked to get the transitions but they no longer make the darker version .
I've worn the regular transitions in my dress glasses for years and like them but just a bit to light for cycle use .
Here's a site on the different lense materials . Click Here
I started using the trivex for my dress/shooting glasses .
I like them and also alot more safer then the regular cr39 that is commonly used for dress.
I think it was only a $36.00 upgrade .
