Default RE: Have you ever ...?

After wanting a Harley for years I finally made up my mind I was going to get one. So I did all the research and decided I wanted a Low Rider. Found a nice used one (05 with 500 miles on it) on cycletrader and started negotiating with owner, came to agreement on price and went to get cashiers check. With cashiers check in hand I had second thoughts on buying used so I called guy up and said I changed my mind. Couple weeks later was Fathers Day and my wife gave me a Harley gift box with a T-shirt inside and it also had a receipt for a deposit on a new Low Rider. Went down to the dealer that day sat on the bike and was looking around and decided to sit on a Roadking. Fell in love with the King but decided I wanted the Classic model which they didn't have in stock but had one coming in a couple weeks. Bought the Classic when it came in and never looked back, no regrets at all. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

well, ya see... in May of this year, I went with my husband just to "look" at some bikes. Looking turned into LOOKING, and when he sat on an '05 herritage softtail, my heart was beaming for him, "well how 'bout we crunch some numbers", the salesman said... hmm, why not, we won't make it anyway I figured. ha, 2 hours later, he has a bike!!!I had always dreamed of each of us having a bike someday, (when we retire, and the kids are grown ya know), my dream was a wideglide, his was always the herr. softtail., 'til then, one is a great start. besides, as a never before rider, I figured I would start with a less expensive look-a-like to learn on later in the summer.
If that isn't enough for one story, how 'bout this...I was happy as a clam riding with him, I mean who wouldn't enjoy huggin' the ol'man on a long ride. Then in June, I go to the Alaska Ralley in Fairbanks, and still don't have all my gear (chaps, boots, ect.), and I need to stop off at the local Harley shop befor the afternoons ride, and just pick up some chaps..... well, I did not find any chaps that I liked, so I just started peeking at everything else while I wait for the rest of our group to finish shopping. What jumped out at me next was a silver '02 wideglide, fork stabilizer, windshield, and aftermarked exaust, (half of my dream accesory list) just SCREAMING my name[sm=roll.gif]. No-way, here is MY bike sitting up in Fairbanks. I had just quit work for good,(family issues, kids more important than Costco) and a 401k being withdrawn, in just 2 weeks. Now my best friend in the whole world says then....... "I have a credit card if you want the bike today.." yup, you guessed it, I bought it, or should I say she bought it, and I bought it from her 2 weeks later, with no regrets. Now my guy and I ride together, separatly, and the kids can go too.... sometimes.

Yup, did this myself just this year. Spent the winter, spring, and summer months thinking about touring bikes and decided on a Road Glide...test drove, sat on, talked with the salesmen at different dealerships, sat on, talked with sales manager at local dealer, sat on some more, test drove owner of dealership's '05 Black Pearl RG and decided it was the bike for me. Went on Harley's website late in July on a Thursday...the day they announced the '06 bikes and noticed the Street Glide. My local dealer rolled their first SG out on the floor the following Saturday morning and by 10 a.m. I had bought it. [8D]
