Andy from Sandy.....actually the item you referred to is NOT AT ALL like the J&S jack.....the one you posted doesn't roll, doesn't lift as high, and most likely is NOT as stable when a 900 lb -1,000 lb motorcycle is off the ground.

There are "lifts", "dollys", "tables" and "jacks" ....the J&S is a "jack".

I meant the two I pictured were similar.

I had a jack that looked like the J&S but there was subtle differences with the tie down points and the cross members.

Not this make but this:- SGS 680kg Hydraulic Motorcycle Lift

And again same thing, way different price:-
Amazon Amazon

And again but cheaper still:-
Amazon Amazon

What I was trying to point out was the many different jacks and lifts that are about but with massively varying prices. These are called lifts by the sellers and not jacks.

I use a British made lift called the "EazyRizer" red lift. They also make the "Blue" model. At the end I will provide a link.

My buddy had a Goldwing and used this lift for it. Then he crashed his bike and almost lost his left leg. The wife said "No more motorcycles". So I bought this lift from him.

This lift does a good job getting my heavy Ultra in the air for repairs and especially when I need to remove a wheel. Plus's: This lift is well made. Like a brick **ithouse.

One negative: It is not quite low enough to slip under the lower (left) frame tube. What my buddy did, and I still do, is we ride up on 1 inch thick squares of wood to raise the bike up. Then the lift will slip under the frame.

Glasspilot:
There are lifts like the one you referred to available in the States too. But that's a very different type than I was referring to (J&S "style").
The "style" you show doesn't move once the cycle is on it. It's probably closer to a "table lift" in it's ability to lift much higher than the "jack" style and have easy 360 degree access. Probably great for working on your cycle but not for maneuvering around. The need to roll under load AND be stable while doing so is a very important for many.

But I can see where some would find the lift you have perfect for their needs.

I have a Sears jack that I bought about 12 years ago for $99. Is it as nice as a J&S ? No,but it wasn't $450 either. If you can find a J&S, or a Pitbull used grab it , they seem to be a premium product. For most things you'll probably do, there are plenty of new jacks available for a reasonable buck.

This shows why I purchased the J&S jack. The Bike Master jack rails are much closer together than the J&S Jack. Rarely do I desire a table life now.

Talking with a guy yesterday, we both live close to where the j and S jack was built . Is there a real demand for their jack or just a lot of tire kickers who want a quality jack but want to spend a $100 max?

Not sure if they had a patent on it etc ... just got us thinking !

Lots of talk about "buying USA made" items. Then folks see the costs of doing so and shop Amazon or Harbor Freight.
