If it starts the security system is disingaged, it might be a turn signal bulb out or if they have been switched to LED bulbs with out a load equalizer it might just think they are out.
Not to sound like a d!ck but sounds kind of fishy to me,(yeah I'm paranoid). But with recent threads about thieves trolling the boards looking for rides to steal and your only posts being the 2 here about the securtiy system.....
I hope I'm wrong and apologize if I am but just felt a need to mention this.
There is no way to override the security (at least per HD) without the code or replacing the unit, and the best you can do is explain how to re-link the FOB.
I forget if you can even do it without the code. I don't have my manual here, so I cant answer.
I was not worried about the security system, I was concerned about the creds of the poster. Can't be to careful - they had only had two posts and both about security systems - I was taught to be cautious!!!
FOB = an adornment that hangs from a watch chain - it has become common to use this term to refer to a small device (like the alarm control) that clips to your belt or some such.
It also means "free on board" which indicates that all delivery, inspection and loading costs involved in putting stuff on board a carrier have been paid, but that does not apply in this case.
Steve, it's the little thing-a-ma-jig that goes on your key chain, looks like a watch fob, similar to a remote door opener for a car. It has a button to engage and disengage the security system.
