What a beautiful part of the country....I could spend some serious time out there for sure, I'm REALLY envious of the members who live out in that part of the country. Got there on Sat. about 5:30 or so and did the Dragon right from the git go (mainly because the Zumo routed us that way ). Stayed at the Two Wheel Inn (nice place w/garages) in Robbinsville, great location to do the Dragon,Cherohala Skyway, Blue Ridge Parkway, and a ton of other roads from. Did the Dragon Sat...Sun..Mon...and Tues...saw a couple of THP but no problems from them at all, what a road, make sure you stop at the overlooks and enjoy the great scenery. Its a dry county so prepare accordingly for after riding BS sessions (a group of sport bike riders staying across from us left us about a caseof cold beer when they left on Sun, ) but you don't have to go far. If you haven't done this ride your cheating yourself I don't care where you live...WOW...I'll be back next year for sure....maybe sooner
Oh yeah man if there is better riding in the country id be shocked, it was gorgeous, i went there during memorial day weekend, it was such a great trip! Im going back for sure!
Just got back from a 3 week bike vacation, going to the Dragon was definately a highlight of the trip. Absolutely gorgeous riding area, will be returning next year.
Love riding to the Dragon, I live in Atlanta Ga. and can make it up there and ride the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway and back home in one day. Around 500 to 550 mile round trip. I stop in Robinsville when I don't want to ride that much in a day and enjoy over a couple of days. Haven't done the day trip in about 4yrs though, I need a touring bike or bigger bike than a sportster. Getting older, built for comfort not speed anymore.
