A good cooler will lower the oil temp significantly which should increase lubrication as well as the life of the oil and the motor with the lean running twincam motors its better safe than sorry I have an original milwaukee twins cooler which is actually two coolers that mounts in front of the down tubes I also installed the jagg oil cooler adapter so the lines connect under the oil filter instead around in the back right of the motor
A lot of people will tell you, that you don't need it. I have the super premium cooler on my RK, my thought is it's better to have and not need, than to need it and not have.
I just checked out the milwaukee twins cooler at J&P. Great price and it looks good too. Most coolers I've looked at are $150 and up. Are you happy with it? I'm seriously considering getting one.

Oil coolers with a built in thermostat are a good idea. All my bikes run oil coolers. Would never think about running an air cooled motor without one installed.

RE: Oil Coolers...
On our past bikes, a 1200 Sportie and my Springer I put coolers on both. Both had extensive engine work and ran hot. The coolers really helped, dropped the temp 30*. If you are going to do it, be sure and get the bipass valve. You don't want the cooler working in the winter.
Who has an oil cooler and why? Does it really increase engine life?
I have one because it is so damn hot here. I use the Super Premium cooler. I don't know that it will increase the life of my motor, common sense says it should.

I kind of figured it would be good to have in hot climates. And you're right, common sense says it should be good.
Screwball, thanks for the tip. A bypass valve sounds like a good idea!
