I saw the E stuff a while back, I thought the square intake was odd. now you need your manifold to make it work[].
It's a long established factrectangular ports will move moreair per cross sectional area and do it in more combustion friendly way. Maybe we should be asking why most heads don't haverectangular ports? As far as companynot getting on any certain band wagon, you got me. Take Competition Cams for example, they only make a little bit of bike stuff, but It's second to none.

This is not atheory lesson, just simply that when your out riding your bike and a intake gasket blows out and you have the Edelbrock total package, your dead in the water until you find some parts to fit!
Take my HQ build for example, it uses SE big bore gaskest and the heads have been spun dropped, so I can get a readily avalible gasket anywhere and still have my quench set properly and Im back on the road!
Not to take sides here but kingk9 said he is a machinist.Well machinists(me being one also)just make the parts to print. There aredifferent depts in a company that have engineers/designers thatdevelop products to mfg.Maybe an engineer from Edelbrock would be more qualified(no offense kingk9)to explain their product(s).
No offense taken, although that's not all I do. I was proably overly sensitve and defensive in my original reply. I am just proud of our products and engineering and let that pride get the better of me. Everyone has different likes and dislikes about aftermarket stuff for their bikes. Mine is just another opinion, and it's not my calling to convince anyone of anything. I need to remember that. So I'm going to use what I want, and I guess everyone else will do the same.
Have to say in all the years I have been using Edelbrocks performance auto intakes, they certainly do have their acts together.I consider any bad raps just comes from Blow Hards! There is never any lack of those.
