I have been contacted by some fellow law enforcement officers in my area who are trying to start a Blue Knights Chapter. If anyone on here can give me some info on their chapters and what they do throughout the year would be appreciated. I'm planning on joining, but am just curious if this is similar to the local HOG chapters.
What your local chapter does is solely a function of your local leadership. I'm not a member of Blue Knights but we do have a chapter here. I am sort of active in HOG but extremely active in CMA. The Blue Knights offer tremendous support to all the CMA events our chapter sponsers. All in all, a great bunch of guys. Since you all are in law enforcement, you might find you have more in common with them than the HOG folks.
Here is the link for the Blue Knights International. There should be a kit they will send you to tell you how to start a chapter. I know you have to have a certain number of members to start a chapter and there are rules to follow. You must be an active or retired officer to belong. I belong to Illinoi IV in Decatur, Illinois. We do alot of chariety work, have poker runs, dinner rides and we go to the Illinois Police Memorial each year with thousands of other Blue Knights. I've been involved for about a year and it has been a great time.
My parents are members of the Colorado chapter of the Blue Knights.
Besides doing the things already listed, they also sponsor the annual "Top Gun" riding competition.
If your area does not have one of these, they are great fun and the cops that win each year have bragging
rights for the next year. Very tough competition.

P.S. Check out the following web-sites for cop/fireman related bike accessories. Very cool stuff. Ordered the Blue Knights licence plate frame for my Dad for Christmas. www.firemanjoes.com and www.motocop.com.
