I've got some that was supplied from the dealer and I was wondering if anyone knows who mixes and packages it for HD....PPG, Valspar, Sikkins, ect? I've got the 07 orange color and a pearl coatthat goes with it, but no activator..... curious if I can use another activator reducer and not have it give me any problems. and does the orange base really need an activator or just a reducer?
sounds like you have little paint booth experience based on your questions. so are you saying you have the paint in your hands but no "label"? because most H-D dealers don't paint they get the tins already painted from the MoCo.

You can buy paint from a dealer. Some of it needs activator and some doesn't. Your dealer should be able to tell you. My painter doesn't like it had rather use his own.

hahah, I do collision repair work for a living....so I've spent more time in a paint booth than I like to even think about.
I have the paint in my hands and it is Paint from the dealer who ordered it from MoCo. I'm just trying to make sure the Sikkins line I have here at my shop will behave with the HD paint.
Some activators and clears won't work right with others.
But after researching it I have found that most people that knowanything about it are saying use PPG products with it......... so I thinkwe're gonna head in that direction. Thanks guys
DYJ I am sure PPG is the paint that is used by HD. I actually have the codes from 01 to 07 if you need any. As far as cocktailing ppg paint with another brand of clear I WOULD NOT. Do yourself a favor and match the clear with your paint.
You need to stick with the same paint system(brand),,I've shot alot of paint, i have done the mix and match with varied results,,,your best bet is to not mix brands,,,,I am not sure why, it just seems to work out better if you dont....
