More info please. You want something like the Hilton (right on the beach), or something a little inland? What price range, and WHEN are you coming. You coming down with your motorcycle for Bikeweek, Daytona 500, with family & kids, down on business, you want to golf, etc?
I live in the immediate area, so I'll be glad to help if I can. There are a few of us forum members co-located to Daytona.
My G/F and i stayed at the Hilton for our 10 anniversary in Sept.....$191 a night for an ocean view room. There are alot less expensive places and some dumps that they would have to pay me $191 a night to stay.
Of course....prices sky rocket during some events like: NASCAR/Bike week/spring break.
So depending on what week you are going, you will want reservations.
Some nice places near the airport and the airport is not that busy so noise is not much of a problem. The Daytona Speedway is next to the airport so it would be easy to tour.
The beach is a straight shot from the track a couple miles.
So...when you going?
heading to bike week with my buddy, he wants to stay close to the beach and close to the action, we have looked at the hilton ocean walk village (across from the convention center i think). Looking for a place in walking distance for some of the late night cocktails, dont really want to ride the bike after a night of drinking. Not concerned too much about the cost because it looks like everything is crazy expensive during bike week. Thanks for any info
If money doesn't matter, then the Hilton will be your best bet. VERY easy walking to Main Street, with all the bars and "gentleman's clubs" all within staggering distance. The Hilton will be the nicest and most consistent. Act fast, believe it or not, some places have waiting lists already.
The down-side to the Hilton is poor trailer parking. If you are headed down hereto what we locals call the "trailer fest", make sure you reserve a spot for the trailer too. It's first-come, first-serve basis to park trailers; and they will charge you seperate for parking it. There are always complaintsfrom folks with trailer reservations but end up with no room to store them because the lotdidn't get parked tight enough. Once you park the trailer, don't expect to be able to get back into it. They get parked nuts to butts whenever possible.
I could keep going on the advise, but should I assume that this isn't your first rodeo down here?
If you like to party and be a part of the scene, choose a hotel that's within walking distance from Main Street. If money is an object and you really want to party, find a campground. If you're a RUB, stay above the Saints & Sinners Pub located at Destination Daytona.
If you want some peace and don't mind a nice ride down A1A towards Daytona, try St. Augustine. Check out the Oasis (upstairs), Sunset Grill andTradewinds.
How'd you find out about the Tradewinds? I thought that place required an excessive amount of locals-only knowledge. Hee hee.
You nailed-it. Especially about all the RUBs renting above Saint's & Sinners. Althoughthe baris a fairlydecent place that lets you smoke inside.
Thunder Gultch Campgrounds, on route 1, just south of Palm Coast is a happening place. Co-located with the Black Cloud Saloon. All good. If I start there, then hit Iron Horse, Broken Spoke, maybe some grub at Saddle Jacks; I never have enough steam to last at Main Street.
I must be getting old.

Poorboy, I'm originaly from Jax and used to own a house on "A" Street in St. Aug. I had 5 good years there... sigh...
Back in the day, I used to do Iron Horse. Ialso liked to hear Jimmie Van Zant on Friday night at Broken Spoke.
I'll admit I like Saints & Sinners - Usually a smokin' hot babe behind bar.
