I am sorry to hear that Herr Monk hasa slow harley. I like to see if some else rode that would go some what faster. I have a 07 lowrider. I just do not know what he is talking about. I have had so many jap bikes I my life. They were all good for a year or two. But just try to get a part for a bike with a couple years on it. I have had to wait 6 month for a gear for my Z1. That is the type of biker hewanted to be?
Herr Monk, H-D is what it is -a cruiser. And yes it is your fault if you didn't research your purchase before buying. And it does sound like the V-Rod should have been your first choice. However, if your ultimate goal is to go fast, maybe you need a Hyabusa or 1000CBRR. You sound like a metric guy to me. Nothing to be ashamed of ... [&o]
If someone gets a bad motor, paint or tranny and they come on here bitchin I figure they have a right to.
For someone to not do their homework and buy the wrong bike for the application they wanted, they can't put that one on Harley. To come to the boards whining about it isn't going to create much sympathy, at least from me.
That seems a little extreme. I haven't had any power issues with the 96cigoing overthose same roads. AlthoughI'll admit that an 88 barely feels like it will go over 65 period...imo.
Had my Stage 1 TC88B (before I got the cams/heads done) up over 100 mph still pulling hard more than once. There really isn't THAT much difference between a stock/mostly stock TC88 and a similar TC96.

Cheers!
Totally agree. The difference in power between the 88 and the 96 is very slight IMO.

Don't people do any research before they purchase the 'bike of their choice'?
If so, and if 'speed' is your main thing, why would you purchase a Harley knowing very well that it's not going to be as fast as the neighbor kids 600cc whatever.
Sometimes I think that Harley's have become such a fashion statement that people buy them, even if they know they won't be happy with the performance or whatever.
Nobody forces you to purchase a specific make and model of motorcycle. If you buy one and find out it doesn't meet your standards don't try to blame the company or anyone else.
People need to take responsibility for their own actions (both the good and the bad decisions), instead of pissing and moaning to the world on a Harley internet forum.
