Default why is riding so relaxing?

you are definitely more vulnerable.
you must pay closer attention to what you are doing.
you have to be more aware with your soroundings.
you have to anticipate a lot more.
your movement is limited.
a wrong move could put you in the hospital or worse.
a bad situation could cause excessive pain and life long problems.
you must spend xtra money just for things that are not everyday items (helmets, etc.)
you need to be more aware of maintenance issues.

but yet - hope on that bike and all your cares go away.
i just can't explain the feeling to others.

any other situations with these kind of parameters would be something to avoid.

I know excatly what you mean. It is not something you can explain, it is something you have to feel.

It's almost the same feeling I get when flying, when the wheels leave the ground. I'm at peace.

It puts me in The Zone, man! Only a few things can do that. Like hiking in and fishing the alpine lakes, ww kayaking, welding and woodwork and stuff no one can screw with me about. Dang, now I'm feeling poetic![sm=biker.gif]

I guess we just dumb fellers.

We ride because we LOVE it....all negativity is just second best to the pleasure we get out of our horses.

My stress disappears
When I jump on my Glide

Down country roads
I just love to ride

Winter is here
I am down for awhile

Spring is coming
So I'll just smile

Have a great day..............

It is because all ofthose things, that we have to be in the moment. We have to be present in the "now". We can’t be beating ourselves up about the past. We can’t be worrying about the future. We have to leave all that behind and be a part of the experience we are having right now. It frees the mind from being constantly trapped in worries or negative thoughts that haunt our existence much of the time.

On top of that we are having an experience that engages all of our senses. In today’s air-conditioned, sound-dampened,couch-potato, sealed-in world we are starved for physical stimulation. On a bike we get bombarded. Smells hit us instantly. Temperature and humidity changes engulf of completely. The bike’s vibrations message our bodies. The wind shakes us. With the landscape whizzing by in our open range of vision, we see more than we ever do. The sounds are loud, strong and unfiltered.

So there we are … in the moment … with all these sensations bombarding us. How can we not be unchanged by that?
