DOT 5 only?
Dot 5.1 is like DOT 4 and will eat away the paint even better. It actually has many of the properties of a good paint remover...

I knew DOT 5.0 was very common in the USA, and is used widely by the army.
It's a completely different compound.
I DON'T know what may happen, on the long run, putting DOT 4 liquid in a DOT 5.0 part.
It should work much as DOT 4 in a DOT 5.1 part, but I'm not sure.
They are of different composition.
As a general advice, I strongly recommend that anybody who put DOT 4 liquid in their DOT 5.0 rated master cylinder contact the moco and ask for informations. If there is corrosion, it is not instantaneous, and the mushy feeling of DOT 5 liquid may mask some leaking, that forebodes a bursting seal/gasket.
