On the way home from work today, I say two highway patrolmen riding side by side down I-35 on their Road Kings. The temp was about 32 degrees and they were wearing half helmets but that was all that I could see because they were a couple of car lengths behind me and in another lane. Those SOB's had to be freezing their asses off. I sure felt sorry for those boys.
Yup! I saw some local PD bikes out the other day. They have some good cold weather gear though. I feel for them in the summer months with all the gear they have to wear.
Just west of Indianapolis on I-74 today I saw a cop, maybe a special funeral cop, riding at 60 MPH and the outside temperature was 8 degrees! He had on a full helmet and I have to assume some heated clothes. The next exit was 10 miles before he got off at the exit. Whatever he was doing I hope he got paid a lot. It was COLD.
I've always been surprised at how little protective gear motorcycle cops wear. In the summer they're riding in shortsleeves and at least around here in winter they don't wear much more.
BadBobOk as a retirede motorcop I must thank you for your thinking. "Those SOB's had to be freezing their asses off. What does the weather have to do with our mothers? You bet your **** it was cold and they get paid less than most careers but there they are when you need help. JMHFO!!
anything below 40 is crazy. i went o the gym tonight and it was 40 and i was freezing my *** off.
knit cap. face guard. leather gloves, leather jacket, boots and yes chaps.
I got a tourmaster riding jacket and pants set. It's been in the low 30's every morning at 6:00 when I leave for work. I find the Tourmaster stuff, along with my sheepskin boots and a full-face helmet keep me pretty toasty.
8 degrees might be a little extreme, though...

Relax. I wasn't dissin the boys. I felt sorry for them out there freezing their asses off in the cold. Sounds like you're itching to dish out a wood shampoo. Besides, I ride with cops and have cops in the family.
