I park mine in a parking spot just like I would park my truck. Why would anyone give me a hard time over that?
Park yours next to the curb or take up 2 spots like some rich ******* in a mercedes and I'll personally give you a hard time about it.
when i'm riding alonei park it on the sidewalk/near the entrance in an out of the way spot so as not to block anyone but where cars can't get to it.if i'm with a group of bikes we'll end up taking a few spots in the lot hoping out increased numbers mean increased visibility.
2007fxdc, when i park in a parking lot i almost always take 2 spots if i can get away with it. as soon as people can learn to get out of their cars without giving my cars door dings and quit putting their bags of **** on my hood or trunk while they open their vehicle i'll be happy to only take 1 spot. my cars arn't the nicest cars but i work hard to get them and keep them nice looking so when i come out from somewhere i have a door ding in my truck or my bmw i get a little bent out of shape.
Well in cases like yours I would take up 2 spaces as well. Just so I can park right next to your bmw as close as possible. Love doing that to people who try to protect their "better than me" cars.[sm=violent053.gif]
beleive me i don't have a better than you car. i just hate people who arn't careful and ding my **** up due to their non ability to open up a car door carefully. btw i've had people park up close to me when i park like that. makes me laugh that i actually pissed someone off by caring about my vehicle. i always notice that when they due park that close me they are extra careful to get out and not touch my car too. f'ing pussies. if your gonna try and do me wrong go the distance and key my car.
I also like the bike rack area....or anywhere up front close to the doors, but out of the way. I always take my time picking the very best possible place to put the bike while still not getting in anyones way. My girlfriend says I remind her of a dog looking for a place to take a ****.....sniffing here and there until he finds the "right" place.
OH....and I aint never had anyone give me a hard time about where I park my bike's....and if they did.....f-them....chances are they are just jealous that they aint got a cool scooter to ride around on!
Never take my bike anywhere that I have to leave it in any parking lot.People have a hard enough time seeing my my truck, judging by the door dings.
see, Dog155gets it!
besides, people don't like the way a biker parks, then they should reconsider their parking etiquette(<yes i spelled that right, checked it twice).
Their inconsideration and thoughtlesnessonly perpetuates theissue.
If this sounds paranoid or harsh o'well sorry I don't live inMayberry you can't just park it and hope for the best!!!!
On the walkway.
Actually, this would be bad manners in many places, while here in Milano it's actually considered the only polite way to park a bike.
You see, parking here is a real nightmare.
Only a complete a$$hole would park his bike in a regular parking place for a car. And It's probably reason enough for somebody to chop it to pieces with an axe and then wait for you and finish the job.
A bike can be parked on the walkway without being an incovenience to passers by.

If the sidewalk is wide enough (there's some obscure law in SF about that) it goes there, next to the building. In a lot, usually in one of the little triangle areas where no one else can park. IF I have to grab a space in a lot or on the street, I'll look for one with another bike in it (keeps the spot open for other bikers, too). Otherwise, I'll usually park in a regular spot near one side so someone else can get their bike in there, too...
I use a regular parking spot just like I would in a car. I try to park in th emiddle of the space and where someone could see the bike before they pulled into it. SideWALKS are for walking or they'd be called side DRIVES
