I went to get a base decal for my bike and they said my Motorcycle safety course card was expired, I said they don't expire and sure enough on this base they are only good for 5 years, I should have saved the onefrom my other bike. Is this standard at all installations? If not I may have to take a trip.
You could always call the safety office and ask them. If they tell you it is only good for 5 years then have them schedule you for the next class. I have been through it twice and the second time was a heck of alot funner than the first.
I called the base police and they confirmed it. I don't want to spend any cash on that course when the only reason I would be doing it would be to get a decal, I don't go on that base that much. I hate change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As of 1 February 2008 the AirForce is no longer requiring base decals. As a matter of fact they are suggesting that you remove the decals from your vehicle.
Our Air Force base here in Louisiana did away with the decals 4 months ago. It is a 100% military ID check only and only the military driver was required to show ID unless base security felt a need to check all vehicle occupants. Beginning 1 Feb (a few days ago) anyone riding in your vehiclewill berequired to show either military ID or civilian picture ID. Decals smecals, The Riders edge course is great and never hurt anyone. It is a lot of fun and good practice. I take it usually once a year and never let it go more than two years, Just good practice if nothing else it precludes forming bad habits and is a good tune up. The Riders edge program is one of the reasons that I became an ex GW puke and got a Harley n now I am sold. find out when the next Riders Edge Experienced Riders course is and take it. Then you will be set.
And you will have fun doing it.

Can't argue with the Riders Edge course or any other safety course. I have taken it and I must admit I did learn a few things. I am just so happy they stopped requiring the decals. It was hard to find a place to put them and they looked so damn ugly.
You are right about the ugly part. There is a chrome plate you can get that attaches to a bolt on the front of the bike that holds stickers like that. I had one on two bikes for the annual inspection decal that PA requires. Maryland does not require a sticker, so they are removed for me now.
