I just purchased my 2008 Road King Classic. I love the bike but hate the quiet pipes. It is fuel injected of coarse. I got a Stage 1 with fish tail tips. That helped, but not enough. I removed the baffels completely and that was a little better. It sounds alright now cruising around 75 but is still quiet at an idle. I want that loud throaty HD bad *** sound at idle like the older carbed bikes have. Has anyone else solved this problem? Thanks for any help!
Just this afternoon, I received and installed a set of baffles from Big City Thunder.
Nice deep sound at idle, still good and loud, but not as loud as the stock V&H long shot baffles.
The more I crank the throttle, the louder they get. Very happy with the sound. I went with their new product, "Quiet Thunder Monster" baffles.
Sounds like you'd want their original product, "Thunder Monster" baffles. They are louder.
Geez, your running straights with fishtails and they arent loud enough? Or mufflers with the baffles removed?
Since you like fishtails Id suggest Bassani or Samson.

must be those bags floppin in the wind......... i would agree rinehart has a great sound but there are a lot of choices when it comes to pipes...shop around a bit.......but the best thing you can do is to hear some in person and see what you like....i know you prob. want to be unique but checking out how others RK sounds with certain pipes will save you from switching in the long run......
If you are running with no baffles, you are not going to find a louder sound. Better sound maybe, but not louder. Unless you have some other restriction in your pipes it can't get louder than straight open pipes which in effect you have.
