I try to get most off with a heat gun, careful you don't burn yourself. Then I try wd-40 or goof off. Finish up whatever's left with Mr clean eraser pads. They really do work like magic.
Read some members use steel wool, 000 or better I think. Never tried it.
Haven't tried this yet myself but will be:I have been told that Easy Off Oven Cleaner works really well. Spray Easy Off on the scuff mark; crank your bike for 6 to 10 seconds, just long enough to heat the pipes; shut it off; Easy Off and scuff marks should easily wipe away with a soft cloth. Good luck.
GAGirl,
If Kolni reads you offering these "Hints From Heloise", he's gonna grin and ask you to make him a sammich while you're in the kitchen.

Funny, but that makes me think of the book by Pat Conroy, Prince of Tides. In that the wife fixes a fancy dinner for her blue collar husband and he complains, demanding that she prepare him some good ole' Hash. So she does, with dog food! And he wolfed it down not knowing, complimenting her on the dish even.[8D]
P.S. The tip about the Easy Off actually came from a guy BTW.
Note to self... Better sneak a peek at wifey next time she is fixing my fav hash dish[]!! She won't eat the stuff........

The best way to get that stuff off your pipes is a straight edge razor blade just slide it across the pipes at a shallow angle and it will come right off. I melted some rain gear on my V&H and it came right off.

Never read the book but enjoyed the movie. That oven cleaner thing sounds like it's worth a try. Less scrubbing.
