I just got given a spare pair of used fuel tanks which I'm prepping for paint, they've been stored a while and there's something small like a washer or something rattling around in one of them. If I shake the tank its rattling around in there but won't fall out through the neck.
Anyone got any tips for getting the little bugger out? [:@]
I have one of those mechanics telescopic magnets for retrieving stuff but the contact area is small and it keeps grabbing the inside of the tank, besides the object might not be steel.
I have to agree with K on this one. Put a small magnet on a fishing line and go fishing! Try first to get the little sucker where you know where it is first. It makes the task a lot easier.

I was thinking more of puuting a strong magnet outaside the tank, that will bring the object closer and then you just slide it towards the opening.
