Is there a good time(month) to ride to Alaska and take a cruise you would suggest?
Mid June to Mid August.

As for cruises, don't know and don't care. Refuse to spend that kind of money with any cruise line.

Now if you want something more interesting. Check out the Alaska Marine Highway. Ride up and take the ferry home to Bellingham WA. It is not a pampered, coddled affair. You get to meet more interesting people and it does not cost you an arm and a leg.

How much trouble is it getting your pistol through Canuckistan and back?
Why in the hell would you want to?

You won't need it for people. You won't need it for wildlife.

If you are thinking you need it for bears, think again. All you will do is **** him off so be sure to file the front sight off your hand cannon. That way it won't hurt as much when the bear shoves it up your ..... [:@]

You will be on the road system. Never needed any kind of firearm while on the road. Kind of nice to have if you are way out in the puckerbrush but unless you take a flight or a boat you won't be there.
If it bleeds, I can kill it with my Freedom Arms .454 Casull. So I believe I'll pass on filing off the sights of a $2,200 pistol. Besides, I don't rely on the opinions of others as to whether or not I need to be carrying a pistol and I sure as hell ain't starting with you.

If it's worth the risk to ya, go for it. Alaska doesn't mind so much, it's Canada that will lock ya up for it!
you could consider mailing it up to a gun dealer, and picking it up when you arrive...

Well, actually Fish and Game kind of does. Non-residents must pay a hefty fee for the license and can only shoot big game on guided hunts. You can try the excuse of in defense of life and property but they don't accept that as much as they used to. Fines, weapon, and vehicle confiscations are more the norm.

Cheechakos, what are you going to do with them?

Spent a year in the "interior, Clear AFS" back in the early 80's. Just a few more years of manditory servitude to the boss man then AK will beback on my list of"to do" places.Got some family in the Anchorage area so hopefull they will still be there to visit.
As far a bug dope I thing the "870" does a better job on them suckers. Get bit by more than six or so and ya start feeling faint.

There's plenty of riding to do in the lower 48 without the hassles of trying to enter Canuckistan with a firearm. I always carry when I ride so I guess I can rule out Alaska.
