well, i go out to the garage friday to take the bike out and i smell gas. i look around and its all over my drivers side floor board, it was leaking out the tank where the wire goes through for the fuel gauge. i call the dealer, they said they will be out to pick the bike up. it made sick to see the bike get hauled away...needless to say i am pissed...they call me and tell me they have to order a new tank from hd..it cant be fixed because its built into the tank. the first time i ever had a problem with any of the other harleys i have owned. what really sucks *** is i just bought the bike jan.30th, and its only got 400 miles because of the nasty winter i had up here...now i dont know if i could ever look at her the same way. bitch!
Sounds like warranty work. They picked it up at least and ordered you a new tank. You'll be back on wheels sooner than you think. I think they'll make it right.
Get ready for the dealerto take there time. I was told painted parts 6 weeks. That tank is a painted part. They should have given you a bike till it is fix.
i know i will be riding soon, but its the 1st time in like a month that its going into the 40s and maybe 50 that i can ride...to top it off, the dealer said they never seen it happen before...thats always my luck...i wanted to get the 1000 miles on it this week, so i can get it in for the 1000 mile service because i am leaving april 26th for a weekend trip.
May you can talk them into doing a pre 1000 mile check and oil change while they have the bike. My dealer did when I took it in for warranty work at around 2500 miles shortly after buying it and I didn't even ask them too.
