loking for feedback,,,, i have a 04 heritage,se ac, se IIs, and the download for these no sert yet,, very full tank of gas i have 105 miles in very windy riding .. any guesses on if i hit 175 or 200 ? i have 1200 miles on this bike about 400 i put on because i bought it used late last year thanks
I have an 07 Road King Custom set up just like yours and just returned from a ride in very windy conditions. About eighty miles on the interstate running over 80mph. I got lucky. I filled up at 204 miles and it took 4.8 gallons. My mileage varies but has always been in the 40s. I have always pretty much figured that I should start looking for gas at 175 miles and have many times gone over 200, but not at 80mph plus into a headwind. This has been true for my last two Harleys.
On my 2007 FXDSE (w/5gal tank) I have to stop somewhere around 120 miles to a refuel, but then I am not completely out of fuel eighter, I usually end up putting about 3 gallons in it, but I panic and start looking when my gauge says it is at a quarter of a tank, because I have ran out of gas before and it is not any fun pushing the bike to the station, and besides I do not think that the fuel injection would like to be run out.
My gage doesnt work anyway. Who needs guages.
I get around 40-42 MPG as an average. 5 gallon tank gives you 200 miles or so.
I usually fill up around 150. No sweat, no worries. Fill it and check the mileage everytime.
Its really a no brainer.
Use your odometer. Its more accurate than the HD gas gage.

+1. I'm ready for a break at 150 anyway, so gas it is.
I have an 04 heritage, carb'd, stage 1. I usually fill up at around 120 miles and it normally takes 3.2 to 3.6 gal. according to conditions. On trips, by that time, I need to rest anyway and I don't like to go on reserve, cause then, all I can think of is my fuel. Hell, I'm lazy, don't want to walk or push.

I average about 33 Hwy/Town driving on my Road Glide. Of course I run WFO most of the time but even itf I try to take it easy it don't change much. I rode down to San Diego for St. Patty's day and got 40mpg when I set my cruise at 75mph and around 37.5 at 80mph. I ran out of gas at 152.3 the other day on this fuel injected beast. I was worried because I did the old shake the sled trick hoping to get her to fire, (I was only a mile from town) and when I tried to fire her it sounded like the fuel pump sucked air. I threw a gallon in her and thankfully she fired right up!
My hot rod evo gets around 38mpg....
