Someone stole my Harley from the parking lot where I work last night. I haven't been through this before, and would appreciate some advise from my fellow riders. The police came out to file a report, and I have filed a claim with Progressive Insurance. I can already tell that it is going to be a hassle. Does anyone have advise on ways to help recover the bike, or in dealing with insurance to recover anything close to its value. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure there's much you can do but keep in touch with all parties about the bike... As for insurance you need to have it properly insured before the bike is stolen i would say my bike is worth about 12000 i have it insuredfor around 19000
dont let it become a hasslethere's not much you can do, What
Was the value of your bike and what did you have it insured for?
The best thing for you to do now is review your total policy paper work you got from your ins. co. Sorry to hear about your loss, but thats why you have ins, hopefully you have quality coverage and not the cheapest coverage.
Sorry about your loss. Bummer. I hope you get it back.
Could you please keep us posted as to how Progressive treats you and how you come out on that? I'd like to know how they handle claims. Thanks and good luck.
Worst nightmare. Damm, sorry to hear you are a victim.
Not much you can do, and not much advise to give here. Thank God, never have had that 'experience'.
I run 'old iron', and as such, the ins. co. want to use "Nothing" as the base price. I shop for a co. that lets me use 'stated' value, w/o all the hassles of an appraisal, etc.
Chop is at 21,000 and the 78 FLH is at 11,000. Pics, always lots of pics, to document things. I sold ins. for a while, they are in business to NOT pay claims.
Please keep us posted as to Progressive's solution. Momma uses them, and so do a ton of folks I ride with. So I am very curious how Progressive handles these claims, Thanx.
Again, what a 'bummer'. Here's hoping the LEO's in your area are four square, and keep a good eye out for stolen vehicles. Some areas are GREATfor recovering stolen rigs. Not sure MY area is one of them, our local Boys remind me of Andy and Barney from Mayberry. But a SUPER bunch of guys as ppl. (Small Town USA)
The bike was a 2002 Sportster with lots of chrome and extras. I have pictures of the bike and documentation (receipts) for the add on parts. My policy is to cover the bike and thereisalso a rider for $3000 in accessories. The bikehad only3100 miles and hardly a scratch. I had about $8,700 invested. I am not sure that the insurance policy was for a set total amount. The thing that I am worried about, is that the insurance company will value the bike at far less than the replacement value. Has anyone had experience with this? Also, does anyone have experience with Progressive insurance? I bought the policy because of the low premium, never expecting to actually file a claim.

If it's not too painful, maybe if you gave us a little more info it might prevent someone else bike from being stolen.
What year and model, do you always lock the front forks, does you company have motorcycle parking, do you use a disc lock or chain, do you work mid-nites or was this a daytime hit? City, suburbs or country?
Please don't think I'm blaming anyone other than the a$$holes who stole it, but it could force the rest of us to rethink how we park our rides.
Sorry for your loss and all the sh*t you have to go through now. Stealing someone's ride should be a hanging crime.
