Ha!!! Sorry all, but I can't contain myself, I just confirmed my housing rental for this years Sturgis rally. Now I'm locked in and can't back out. This will be my second consecutive and am more as excited as the first. We will be about 10 blocks from One-Eyed Jacks.
Not being nosy, but I just wondered what you had to pay for the housing? There was someone trying to rent their house out here a while back and they wanted 5K for a week.
The six of us are actually renting a 26' fifth wheel camper that is parked in the owner's driveway. He sounds like a great person to rent from by the couple of phone conversations we've had. It's going to be $1000 for 5 nights. I was really hung up on trying to find a place within walking distance. I'm big on people watching while enjoying a couple of beers. Last year, which was my first, we tried that and we're staying in Wall, SD, an 80 mile ride. It worked out, but wasn't what I wanted to do. This looks as if it should work out great.
God bless you guys coming from major distances. I think that's awesome, especially from Alaska. We stayed Sunday night at the Chip last year, the night Tim McGraw played. I personally had a blast, but the 2 women couldn't handle sleeping on the ground and the heat. I could have stood there for hours and watched the riders on the mechanical bull and the gyroscope thingy. Almost made me forget I had a beer in my hand.

We always stay at Glenco because at least from 2:00 AM to about 5:00AM it's "relatively" quiet.

No offense to those that stay in houses, hotels, etc, but the Surgis "experience" is completely different in the campgrounds and must be seen to be believed.
There is a camaraderie in the campgrounds that you don't get staying in a hotel. We meet up with the same people and make new friends from all over the world each year.
Hey Capt. Sparrow, Is there still such a thing as the naked parade and is it as much of an experience as I've been told? My riding partner from last year, who has been going to the rally for years, told me that it is a must see, but we weren't able to get over there. Just curious.
