Congrats!!! You did good! Unless you stuck a gun up to the sellers head, it's not your fault he sold it for that cheap.

ORIGINAL: Tailbreaker

I'm with Curt and Chambeaux on this one. You took advantage of someone so you could sell it for a profit and your on here bragging about it.

After admittingthat you know how to make theBohemian drink thing, I think your man card should be evoked.

That's one good lookin' bike, and probably more than worth the 5K to begin with if it's in good running condition. I agree, however, that's it's not the sort of deal to be particularly proud of tho. I bought a '67 Mustang under similar circumstances some years ago, and still regret it. Ipurposely let the owner think the engine was seized when I knew different.. I didn't agree with him or tell him it was, I just didn't say anything. I wish I had.

On a seperate note.. the sugar drink is an absinthe, if I'm correct (and I'm sure I am.. I've got a bottle of La Fee in front of me, as well as a half bottle of Lucid and a bottle of Absinthe Eduoard.) I don't agree with the man-card thing.. at between 130 and 160 proof, the sugar and water is pretty necessary to make absinthe drinkable. Mixing sugar and water is the parisian method, setting the dosed sugar cube aflame is the bohemian. The buzz is different from an alcohol buzz, so if you get a chance to try it, dive in. And hold your nose.

Sorry for the noobiethread hijack, guys..

I see this a bit different.

The bike probably hadn't run in quite a while.
The guy had it sitting in his yard for sale.
Anything is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Apparently no one had been willing to pay $5k.
He was probably glad to get anything at all out of it and would probably have taken the same offer without the fancy drink.

panhead100ci just negotiated from a position of strength....with cash in hand.

Yah, you should have fixed it so he could get back out on the road. We need people like that out there to improve our good standings.

I think it was just good luck that there wasn’t more wrong with it than that, and how would you know? Even at 5k I think I would want go through it more. What if it turns out that it’s hot, who got the best deal then?
