I dunno what to think. I'm a big believer in karma - so watch your ***.
On the other hand, if there weren't stupid people in the world - I would not have gotten some of the deals I have on stuff in the past.
When I was looking for parts for my Road King build I called a guy on craigslist. He had various parts from a chooper build that he could not afford to complete. I was mainly interested in a set of spoke 'take-off' wheels he had from a 2001 - but told him I would take a look at the rest of his stuff too.
Well I get out to meet him, and he shows me the parts he has in boxes. I agree to buy the wheels and that I would buy a caliper/rotor combo he had sitting in a box. The wheels had been removed from a bike before it left the dealership..and the caliper/rotor were in 'like new' condition.
He said he wanted like $300 for everything and I told him I would go $150. I had cash - and he needed cash, so he agreed.
As soon as we got things loaded-up and hit the road - my Pops looked at me all crazy and asked why I bought the caliper/rotor that (he knew) I didn't need. I said "hold on, I need to make a phone call". I grabbed my cell phone and called a buddy of mine...
Well...The caliper/rotor was a chain-drive sproket/rotor/caliper combo from Exile Cycles and I had it sold for $400 before I got back to my house. My buddy was there with cash in hand when I pulled into my driveway
I did something similar at a dealership I visited. They had a rack of 'workingman special' parts all marked 75% off MSRP. I grabbed everything that I thought looked 'marketable' and ended-up dropping about $400 in parts. I was traveling for work at the time - so while I was driving I made some phone calls. I ended-up selling everything I bought - except a set of Streamliner floorboards (I put them on my bike) before I got home and collected near $900.
I just was smart enough in both cases to know what I was looking at - and was willing to take the risk (wasn't sure I could flip the stuff). The only difference was that I didn't have to get somebody drunked-up to do it.
If you can get the owner of a multi million dollar dealership drunk and make a deal like that, my hats off to you and I want his name.
Of course this isnot going to happen. If he went in to a dealer & got the owner drunk & made the same deal, panhead would be a hero here.
you probably would have gotten the deal without the rum. who knows what the guys other circumstances were. he could have been rich, desperate, a thief, or just plain ole' dumb.
+1 on being pissed that you got such an awesome deal. i have been keeping my eyes open for some time now for a deal like this.
oh, and i love absynthe. Man card returned. i'm thinking of having some more shipped in and throwing a party.
And I'm sure many of you would have fixed it for the guy, showed him what was wrong, and let him jack up the price on you.

Come on guys lighten up.[:-]
Whatever , he was a dumbass, panhead did nothing wrong, the only thing im mad about is he got that bad *** bike for $2500. IM SO JEALOUS!
