I am a real biker.
I ride every day rain or shine the only time I drive my truck if I need to haul something.
Almost 700,000 miles on bikes so far and that is not counting 40 years of racing.
I do all my own work the last time a dealer worked on one of my bikes was 1970
I ride ATGATT
In my mind I am a biker
Bacon - I was gonna give you some good natured grief about not having a high enough post count to be a "real biker" - and that you don't know your left from right - but - I was distracted by the truth in your signature. Excellent observation.
Yes I am new to this site but not new to bikes.
Started rideing at 10 that was fourty years ago.
First Harley 1978 Low Rider sold it in 1988 with 168,000 miles on it eight more have followed it.
Raced everything from moto x, flat track, road racing, and piloted a Top Gas drag bike for the last 15 years.
I just found this site and hope to be a welcome part it it in the future. But my post count will never be to high, I read a lot more than I post. From my other hangouts Advrider, Ducati Ms and others I have learned most by reading and searching first.
Bacon,
I love the Ducati MS site. I was looking to get one a couple of years back but waaayyy too tall for me....I am vertically challenged. lol
I consider myself a real biker cause I never come to this site without my chaps and vest on. Can't beat the smell of leather will typing away........
A true "biker" is a way of life, dated back to when motorcycles were invented!Doesnt anyone read anymore? I believe that we that ride are all BIKERS! Times change and so did the biker! Its just a stereo type. The people that think just because you got a tattoo and ride a bike on weekends that you are a Biker, Yes, you are! But it doesnt matter who you think you are, If you mess with someone by insulting them, you better be prepared for it. Doesnt matter what they are, doctor, lawyer, cook! The one you better look out for is the one not saying a word! The people that shoot there mouth off are just weak minded people that want recognition. I have friends that belong to clubs to this day and some that did "Back in the Day", They dont care about you and will not acknowledge you unless they cant avoid you! Then my friend, you will meet a "Real Biker"
I think if you can convince a thousand complete strangers in cyberspace by listing all the cliches about bikers that you adhere to, then actually convince yourself, then you must be a real biker. Either that, or you got some self esteem issues.
Hey! What a great way for my rookie a$$ to increase my post numbers.
I ride a bike, so I'm a biker. I wear boots,a cowboy hat and listen to country music, so I'm a cowboy. I live in town, so I'm a city boy. I was an Aircrew Rescue Swimmer in the Navy, so I'm a Sailor. I've been to Iraq and now I'mgoing to flight school in the Army, so I'm a flyboy and a Soldier. I listen to classical music, so I'm cultured. I listen to some rap, so I'm a MF Gangsta. I have a tattoo, so I'm white trash. I'm saved and I'm a Christian, so I'm a Jesus Freak. I've taken punches on the jaw without budging, so I'm tough. I've seen my kids get hurt, and I've cried with them, so I'm a whimp.
I know who I am.
"I think I understand a little bithow you feel about some things,it's none of my business how you feel about some other things, and I don't give a damn how you feel about some of the things."- Johnny Cash @ San Quentin
Okay here's my half a cent, inflation you know. I liked what BarneyMN said; biker used to be a way of life. And in the old days, a biker was looked upon as a thug and the biker look exemplified that. But definitions change over time, and I think everyone in this forum and other biker forums are all bikers. Example, when did bad come to mean good? Even folks that ride Vespas are bikers and I applaud anyone that rides two-wheels. The more people that ride, the more presence we'll be on the roads and maybe, just maybe people in cages will be more attentive to bikes on the road. Not only that but with gas prices soaring more people will be riding bikes and those that never did before will understand how angry we get with crappy drivers on the road.
