Painting chrome?

Anyone have any experience with painting and prep. of chrome. I'd like to black out a couple pieces and am looking for some info.
Prep of Chrome? Type of paint and clear used? Anyone ever try this with HD spray bombs?

I think I would go the Powder Coating route.

I want the parts to match the paint and I don't think you can get that kind of shine and depth with powder coat.

I sand it with 180, then 220, then 360, then shoot some primer. Sometimes I'll stop at the 220, and shoot some of the spray bomb primer that fills in scratches. Then shoot the color. I don't shoot clear on it. Too lazy? All my painting is done with bombs, but not the high buck HD stuff. Go to Wally World and get Krylon. Or find some PlastiKote. If you are shooting high temp as on exhaust pipes, go to a lawn mower joint and get the stuff sold by Briggs & Stratton. If you wanna wrinkle anything, get some VHT. Shoot it, then heat it with a lamp, and it'll wrinkle good.

I was planning on doing the same thing but in a wrinkle coat. Do you have to place the painted item under a heat lamp to get the "wrinkle" when using a wrinkle type paint? Never tried the wrinkle yet but I'm going to tool around painting a chrome air cleaner.
