96B Engine
Has anyone ever took the counterweights off of the crank on a B engine, If so, would it make the bike unrideable with it being solid mounted, or would it smooth out after you got it going? Ride Safe.
I don't want to do it. Was just wondering if it would be just like the old ones, or if it would be to rough, there used to be hard mounted v-twins that were just fine... OH, nevermind, doesn't seem like anyone knows any thing about it anyway.Ride Safe.
I wouldn't do it for the street , however if it's for racing , GO 4 IT!! Will spin up faster , BUT less bottom end power , so if it's for high rpm WOT (Wide Open Throttle)most of the time .I did it in my racecar , but then if I was to ever put the motor in a street car I'd relpace the crank & clutch woth more liveable and driveable stuff.

No, you would not want to do that. The Softail frame would get bent and mangled on the stress of all that vibration.
Have seen how much a Dyna engine moves? Now picture the entire bike being yanked around like that.
When the TCs first came out, the softails were still Evos 'till they came out with the counterbalancers.
It would not smooth out at speed, it would get worse.
Even sticking in a ruber mount, the under-body softail suspension can't take it, and you will either loose, or bend your swing-arm/suspension.
