wife and I are going for first time have heard that there are thing to do in rapid city we are staying there and would like some suggestions on some good rock and roll bars skynyrd ,zepplin type music good places you eat[sm=biker2.gif]
There will be plenty. Just ride around, you will do fine.
I was stationed at the base (Elsworth) met my wife and lived there for a time. We have in-laws in and around Rapid.
Thanks You All, Like I said our first trip. We want to do lots of riding, but also want to check out a couple bars in and around Sturgis and Rapid City. We are also not really planning anything, just going to let the road and wind be our guide. We do want to spend at least a day on Main Street, Sturgis, watching the people, check out the vendors and of course the bikes.
Don't miss the Heads, the Needles Highway, Spearfish Canyon, Hewlett, Wyoming on Wednesday, Devil's Tower, Broken Spoke Saloon, Deadwood, and the unvailing of the new Harley Models in Rapid City.
And when you're riding the Needles Highway, take a side trip on the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park. You'll see tons of wildlife. If you see any buffalo near the road, DON'T RIDE PAST THEM until they are a long way from the road. They do charge at motorcycles. Leaves nasty stains on the seat! Don't ask how I know this.
No matter what you do or where you ride in that area it all is blast. Remember in Sturgis to carry some cash as the only way to stay out jail (if you do something wrong like speed, public nudity etc) is to have cash to pay the ticket as it is written. No cash=jail. On the other hand I have been there many times and have never had a ticket. Sturgis police are pretty much a leave alone types. You have to really screw up then they hammer you.
