I was out riding yesterday in the 90 degree weather. I was in the middle of a hard right turn when my front tire went over one of those tar strips that ODOT put dowm over cracks in the pavement. The tar was so hot that my tire slid thru the tar and moved the tire about 6" before regaining traction. I thought for sure I was going down, but somehow I kept it up. Much to close for me.

Yeah, it's that time of year when the "Tar Snakes" become a big concern again. I slipped a lil' on some last weekend.
 \\;
We have a LOT of them around NM...
I had the same thing happen a coupla times today here in NC. I did'nt come anywhere near close to going down but it definitely will wake you up.
They get a lil slick in the rain too.
It's a conspiracy I tell ya...

Hey bobstreetbob, were are you located? Im in Maysville but work in New Bern, get this, for the NCDOT.
But I dont put those tar snakes down, I PLANT GRASS!!!! \\; \\; No, not that kind LOL
I seed the shoulders of the road and do enviromental work.
I almost went down Friday leaving work.
The entrance to \\; the dot yard gets a lot of sand and dirt build up and leaving in the afternoon I have to take my oppertunity and pull out because there is a ton of traffic from Hatteras yachts, yes the yacht builder is just down the road.
I went to pull out and my front tire on my eg classic slid, I kept it up but it really pissed me off that we are the DOT and mangement wont keep the damn driveway clear!
