Nothing sucks the style \\;out of a bike like a windshield and \\;bags. On the other hand, if you tour, these are absolute essentials. \\;Form over function doesn't play when you're knocking down 500-mile days.

We are all (supposed to be) adults. Why in the hell are any of us concerned about being cool? I mean really... who gives a fat rats azz? We own Harleys for cripes sake! Is it time to drink yet? lol

I have a Heritage Softail Classic. \\; Ride with the windshield on just about all the time, especially to and from work, and on long trips. \\; But, I got to tell ya, when I am on a long trip and get to where I am going, the windshield usually comes off for cruising. \\; Like others have said, there is just something about having the wind in your face. \\; I think it is the reason that a lot of us have bikes. \\; To be honest, no-one has ever asked me why I am riding with \\;a windshield. \\; I don't think they really notice. \\; Just ride the way you like!

Anyone who cares about "looking cool", ipso facto, isn't cool.
I don't have a windshield because it creates a border around the scenery. \\; It's too much like watching the world through a T.V. for me.
The view of the world without boundaries is worth the wind and occasional bug/rock impact.

It's obvious to me that they look goofy,[:-] and in my book \\;goofy[:-] translates to uncool[&:]. \\; To each his own.

I meet friends every Tuesday at Corona Cigar in Orlando and we all ride Harleys. \\; We sit outside smoking and talking.

I bought a Windvest for my Fatboy after a couple lovebug seasons and picked the Windvest for the low profile and it allows me to still get the wind without all the bugs.

Recently, a guy was sitting behind us and I overheard him say, "That would be a nice fatboy if it wasn't for the gay windshield."

I glanced over my shoulder and saw he was rather large so decided to not reply.

This is my 6th road bike. The last 2 were touring bikes with windshields, the other 3 and my current Fat Boy had no windshields. When I first started to ride my FB, it seemed really windy. Now it just seems natural.
At first, I thought about adding a w/s for longer rides, but read too many complaints about the wind buffering, you get from adding one.
I never have considered a bike as being more or less cool, if it had a windshield or not.
