i rode up from oskaloosa. (about 130 miles) and it was a great ride up followed by a pretty awesome open house, but by the time we left the wind was blowing so hard that it made the ride home no fun at all.
great time got some great deals but as you said the 30+ mph winds for the ride home stunk. Did stop aat the corner inn in the town of Walker for their broasted chicken and a drink. Watched the ride like a pro demo and that man can ride a bike. over all a great day over all.
Frankly, the last two years have had too many people and too few vendors. \\; I blame Michele Smith for the people. \\; Had to park a half-mile away. \\; Don't know why they can't get the vendors they used to. \\; There were a lot more freebies years ago. \\; I came home with NO catalogs, no keychains, no posters, no decals. \\; S&\\;S usually has one of the best displays, but it's their 50th anniversary bash this weekend, so they were barely there. \\; Bassani used to always have a big-t****d chick signing posters\\; didn't see that today. \\; Hour-long line to get the free food. \\; One amusing thing\\; while waiting out on the highway in a mile-long line to get in, the only bike to overheat (temps in the 70s) was a water-cooled Yamaha V-Max! \\; Ha!!
I was there today as well. Like ya said it was way too windy on the way home. I opted to take 1st Ave thru Marion &\\; CR... cut down the fight the wind some. I wanted to talk to the Kuryakyn people and Memphis Shades. Kury folks had the numbers and solutions I needed and JP had the parts in stock, so that worked out great. Unfortunatly Memphis Shades wasnt there. I skipped the 60+ min food line and went to Springville for the BEST $1.50 burgers.
Returned home this evening. \\;\\\\\\; It was the largest turn out that I have seen there. \\;\\\\\\; And yeas the winds were brutal on the return trip.
Went through the food line twice. \\; It only took 10 minutes each trip. \\; They are masters at moving people through.
