Thanks for the heads up. Sure wouldn't have seen that in the owners manual. I subscribe to\\; if all else fails read the instructions, if all else still fails follow the instructions.
I switched from Syn 3 to Mobil 1 synthetic 20w-50. \\;\\\\\\; Supposed to be superior. \\;\\\\\\; I really doubt it makes any real difference but I'm using Mobil 1 from now on. \\;\\\\\\; \\;\\\\\\; I put Redline synthetic transmission fluid in and synthetic in the primary.
Stick with your brand of choice and you'll always do good. Having changed brands during oil changes it did make a slight difference in fuel mileage. I've stuck with the same brand for 3-years and did see a consistency with fuel mileage so long as the outdoor temp was stable!
you drove 20 miles each way to buy syn 3???????
lol lol lol lol
Id sooner fill my oil bag with dog **** than run that crap
and why do you say this?
Hello again Mr. grammar and spelling policeman. You know who I mean. You're the guy who likes to correct the writing of others today and accuse them of being uneducated, right?
"and why do you say this?" sucks. If it's a sentence, start by capitalizing the first word.
However in this case you began an interrogative sentence with the coordinating conjunction "and." That's stupid because there is nothing before your statement to coordinate with your statement. Drop the coordinating conjunction "and" and simply say "Why do you say this?

I "Triple-Dog-Dare" ya...
[Yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking. The "triple dog dare" is a breach of etiquette, since there was no "double-dog-dare", but I feel the situation warranted it.]
I switched from Syn3 to Mobil 1, V-twin, because it doesn't require going to the dealership to buy. It is also a full synthetic oil versus Syn 3, which is a blend. I doubt very seriously if my engine is going to run any better, cooler, quieter or last any longer, regardless of which of these 2 oils I choose to use.
I have yet to read on any of the forums where using Syn3 caused any problems.
Why then are so many forum members so negative about using it, other then it is suppose to come from CITGO?
It would help if these members could state some facts of why Syn3 is so bad.
In my opinion, you just need to put in the proper weight oil, that is equivalent or better then what the manual calls for.
Tom
I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but driving 40 miles to get it when there are as good or better oils availale on almost every corner? \\;
