Cam confusion

I think I am pretty set with the SE 203 cams but was wondering how the compare to andrews tw26 and 21 cams, planning 95" build this winter

Cams can be really confusing when you look at their stats. A lot depends on the ramp angles, how fast they open and close the valves, not just how high. Horsepower and torque will also change depending on how the cams are indexed so the same cam can have more or less horsepower and less or more torque. Ive used the cams from Woods and love them. The TW6-6 is one of the best cams out there for a pretty much stock motor when youre looking for low end torque. JMO.

I'll also put in a good word for the S and S gear drive 510s. Gobs of low end torque, increased power very noticeable in normal driving ranges. Nice lope at idle still.

If the budget allows, I really like gear drives. Gets rid of that chain and pesky accouterments.

I just can't see paying the extra 500 bucks for the gear drive cams

I'm with you roofer. I run the SE203's in my '03 Heritage and they work just&nbsp\\;great. All the power you could ask for and then some.

In the long run I believe the gear drives are cheaper. Guys are losing cam chain tensioners as often as 20k miles. When chains wear they have to be replaced too. With gear drives, you are avoiding all of that. It's pay me now or pay me later, imho.
