Default Parts

I've had my '07 FLHT for just under 2 years....over that time 1 starter switch bad, 1 starter bad, 1 starter selinoid (sp) bad-all different occasions...at none of these bads did the dealer have the part in stock....each time a min of a week to get part in....worked at BMW store a few years ago and all of the above were kept in stock...if a part not in stock, BMW system had part to dealer in 48 hours or less-this was policy....
Is my experience with HD normal or just a dealer problem?

I just took my '08 Road Glide in for a broken fork lock.&nbsp\\; Took them 9 days to get the part in.&nbsp\\; I was amazed also.

Did you ask the dealer if he could have the part shipped overnight? They will do it if you ask but you will need to pay the shipping upcharge.

I don't expect them to overnite-just that a week is just wrong...a starter and a solinoid (sp) should always be stocked in a large shop....

GM Parts guy here. They cant have EVERY part for EVERY bike. Its not possible or economical for the dealer. They have computers that track sales and what they need to have in stock. Chances are the parts you needed for your bike have very low sales and thats why they dont have them in stock. Not an excuse but just an explanation.

My local dealer stocks a lot of parts. Very seldom do I have to order and wait. Probably ten different parts over five years for two bikes. Everything else was in stock. I am talking exhaust to lamps.

Your dealer is either small, broke or just sucks on parts.
