Congrats on the move! My wife and I moved south to Georgia two years ago (from Chicago) and have not regretted it for a minute. Well, other than the helmet law.

There's an old joke among sociologists: The South is Different! (applies to any "south"; whether that's good different or bad different is up to you).

I spent about a third of my time in the Army in the south: Savannah, GA; Columbus, GA; Fayetteville, NC; and a place in north GA called Camp Merrill, for part of a school I attended. In terms of climate and landscape, you've got a little bit of everything down there.

Just go down there and embrace it. You'll love it! Good luck with the move!

Good luck in South Carolina. As a Southerner born and raised (and since moved away), my advice to you is to drink heavily.

Great news on finding a new job. My sister is in Greenville and keeps trying to get me to move down. I have about 6 years to retirement so maybe.....

My neighbors just moved back to N.H. from N.Florida. Said they could'nt handle the hot climate any more. They'll be up to thier rears in snow this winter. Oh well, to each his own.

Welcome from Simpsonville SC. We moved here from Buffalo 13 years ago. Not enough money in the world to move me back north.

Congrats I think you've made a great move for so many reasons. If you get home sick just come on up back in February ya here! Its not so much homesick as it will be a lapsed memory of the snow/cold/cost to stay warm. I wish I was you. Good luck,God speed and represent damn yankee boy!
