That does have a lot to do with it. I have never had an opportunity to see a cop and say to myself "Thank goodness, a cop"! Its always been "Oh no a cop....was I speedin, oops loud pipe ticket, is a tail lite out, did I forget to signal, crap my wallet is in my other pants.....how am I gonna get hassled this time?

Yeah, that's real good. Instead of badmouthing the cops, who are just there to enforce the laws. Why not badmouth the elected officials who make them up? Don't like a law, work to get it changed, not just break it because YOU think it's stupid. And you called him a moron??

Cops have a lot of discression in how they choose to enforce a specific law and still do their job. If a cop happened to have been involved in a wreck with someone driving drunk, you can bet he will most likely ream your butt for blowing .00001 over the legal limit!
On the other hand if a different cop was in a good mood he might just give ya a stern warning and follow ya home.
It was explained to me once they can choose to follow the letter of the law, or the spirit of the law. From my experiences its a crap shoot..50-50. Will the cop be cool, or will he be hard core.
And remember this country was formed by criminals, folks that had no respect for laws! Everyone that signed the Constitution had a price on their heads!
We had a cop here , who passed away about ten years ago , who was on third shift , and would stop anybody riding a bike jus to talk to them , being friendly .. He stopped me at least once a week , jus flip his light once or twice and pull over and shoot the breeze for a few minutes ..
