My second biggest willie maker (aside from all the above), prefering no windshield, is while cruising at 70 on the freeway......... the thought of road debris flying up in front of me and......... you know what. Major shivers everytime. Not even sure a windshield would help in some cases.

It's just being superstitious, but I'm like him, I don't want to have anything to do with a bike that someone has died on.
I can see the bad mojo thing going on - and wouldn't buy a property where a murder happened for instance - but we are all aware in the back of our mind that things like this can happen riding a bike. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase a bike that had been in an accident, but I would also have a shaman who lives close to here bless the bike and appease any spirits associated with it. If the guy loved bikes, he would want to see his scoot go to someone who would appreciate and care for it.

And ride the wheels off it. Amen. Don't leave my scoot sitting in some grudge, collecting dust and rust. Put 'im back together, and GO.
They've been a part of my life, sometimes, the ONLY part.
Now, go riding and N JOY. I am.

We like to go look around the store and just check things out and we happened to go upstairs, off the showroom floor, where they keep several of the used bikes they don't have space for on the floor as well as some other bikes they are still processing and such.

Anyways, we were looking at one bike that was in a row of bikes that had some level of damage to them that needed fixed up before the dealership would sell them. This bike in particular didn't look too bad at all, just some road rash along the left side of the bike. The derby cover and the highway pegs were banged up, and the hand controls were dinged up but it didn't look too bad off.

Then the guy who was with us who took us up to take a look around walked over and said that the guy had died in the accident. Chills went down my neck as I never would have guessed it was a fatal crash based on the condition of the bike. I actually remembered hearing about a fatal accident on the highway a little while back and this was apparently that bike.

I guess that just goes to show that anything can happen and that while the bike might not get too banged up, what happens to your body is a whole different story.

Just wanted to share this bit with everyone so that everyone keeps safe riding in mind while out on the roads.

That does give one shivers. Just curious, helment law or not where you are?

That's the type of story I think of whenever I get a little too aggressive on the road. I try to tail it back when I'm considering passing or becoming frustrated with the standard road hassles. Be safe out there!

Maybe every dealership should have one of those by the front door. Might compell new riders to get good instruction and buy proper ride gear.
My condolences to the family of the rider of that bike.

+1 That is the way I feel. Give my bike to someone who will really enjoy it. WTF, it doesn't take much of a bump on your head with the street to kill you. Doesn't mean there is a voodoo curse on the bike...you just hit your damn head on the concrete.

Yeah THAT would be a huge sales tool.....I can hear it now..."Ok Bob, now that you have decided on that new V-rod let me show you the "DEATH BIKE" and if you don't want to end up DEAD you had better sign up over there at the counter for the MSF course."

Hey, Bob where are you going...........???

Yes, there's a helmet law here in NC. I don't know the details of the accident...

You can fall off a 3 foot step ladder land on you head and die. Sad but when the page in your book of life reads THE END thats it. I don't like to think about it or dwell on it much but it is what it is.
