Default Update - Vibration in Handlebars

I posted several weeks back about the fine vibration in my new bars at speeds ~60 mph and higher. I have since been back three times to the Indy that installed them. First he took out the old rubber bushings and installed polyurethene bushings. Second time he cut down the steel rod inserts by 1/8". Third time he took them down some more. Still no luck. Yesterday I tried some Isogrips but that did nothing to alleviate the hand and wrist numbness and I actually don't like them at all - too fat.

So now I am taking the bike back tomorrow for one last shot at taking care of this. He is installing some Arlen Ness bushings, attached is the link. If that doesn't do the trick, I am contemplating going back to the stock buckhorn bars. I really don't want to do this because I love the look and handling of these bars. Any ideas would be appreciated.

At this point, may just be cost effective, to fly up here.

NO, I don't have any more ideas than what your' indy is doing for you, but I do have a panhead AND a shovelhead you can take for a ride, both with STEEL bushings. It won't eliminate YOUR vibration, but might give you some perspective on what 'vibration' IS.

It seems to me more likely that you'd dampen vibration with rubber rather than a harder substance like polyurethane. Poly bushings are designed to reduce the "slop" sometimes seen with high rise bars (because of the additional leverage). If it were me, I'd try the stock rubber bushings with the cut down metal sleeves.

GL!

I'm thinking lead weight in the riser and bars. Maybe shot.

I do understand that I am riding a motorcycle and not driving a cadillac. I don't mind a little vibration, but with the stock bars it was smooth as silk. Now after about 20 minutes my hands go numb. And that, folks is NOT right.

Sorry, I can't remember exactly, but I've seen similar threads where folks filled the bars with something to eliminate the vibration. Amazing how something seemingly simple can change the ride of a bike. Good luck.

Would you be up for letting your indie actually ride your bike so he can give you a second opinion on the vibration?
