Here is my 8" smoked shield. I look directly over the top. No problems seeing at night. No problems with the wind. I actually have more issues with the wind hitting my legs and up in my face than from coming head-on over the shield. I do however still get the occassional bug in the forehead thou.

This was stock. I'm 6'-0 give or take a half inch.

Gym Rat, that's a great signature picture. I believe it's you on a Cross bones. Now answer me this Gym Rat. Are those stock apehanger handle bars?, because they look pretty low on you. If stock then you must be a giant!

8" Clearview with recurve. I'm 5'10" and the top of the shield is well below my eyesight. Gives plenty of protection. Works perfect for me.

If you don't want to buy a new shield, as previously suggested, take the tall shield into a glass shop and they will cut it down to any height you want.

FYI, I had a similar situation with my '05 Road King, in which I had mistakenly ordered a replacement windshield that was too high for me. I found out that our local Tap Plastics store had a guy working there that routinely worked orders for lowering too-tall windshields, so I took it in there to see if he could help me. Even though I had to leave it for a week, it was worth it! By the time it was returned to me, the windshield has lost 4-inches in heighth, and had been so professionally done that you could never tell that anything had been done out side of the factory. Bottom line here is, check your local Tap Plastics to see if they can help!
